With any new shaving brush it is important to wash it thoroughly and prepare it before shaving. From new you should wash your brush in hot water with soap and rinse well. Leave your brush bristles down in hot tap water for a an hour then wash again. Never pour boiling water over a shaving brush.
Before you shave it is best to leave the brush sitting bristles down in hot tap water. Badger bristles are absorbent and will become softer once fully saturated. Leaving your brush in hot water while you shower will give the brush a softer feel on the face. A fully saturated brush will allow you to have more control over the thickness of the lather compared to using the brush dry.
After shaving leave your brush sitting bristles down as this will aid in trying the bristles and will increase the life of your brush.
We recommend the use of a black glaze shaving bowl when making a lather with any shaving brush. This gives you much more control over the thickness and wetness of your lather. Using a shaving bowl also allows you to produce more lather from a small quantity of shaving cream and gives your brush a home after you have finished shaving.
